W
e are pleased to
announce that VSP
Vision Care will manage
vision care services for Gold Coast
Health Plan starting
March 1, 2012.
Attached for you are
ways on how to nd a
provider and how to
make an appointment to
get your eye exam. e
eye doctor you see must
be a VSP Provider on the
list that is attached. No
PCP referral or GCHP
approval is needed to get your eyes
checked.
Your bene ts will not change.
GCHP is only letting you know of the
change to VSP Vision Care services.
Bene ts below stay the same.
One eye exam and one pair of
glasses every 2 years are covered
only for the following Members:
Children under 21 years of age
and who have full scope Medi-Cal.
Adults who live in a long-term
care or nursing facility.
Pregnant women—and only if
your doctor says it might cause
harm to your baby or pregnancy.
One eye exam is covered for
adults every two years. Glasses for
Members over 21 years old are not
a covered bene t.
A VSP ID card is also included if
you would like to use it. To nd out

If you have diabetes, your eyes
may be at risk.
Most people with diabetes
develop retinopathy. This is a
problem that affects the back
of the eye. Diabetes can also harm
the front of the eye and the fluid
inside.
Talk with your provider if you:
Have blurry vision.
Have double vision.
See rings or floating spots.
Have pain or pressure in your eye.
Can’t see out of the corner of
your eye.
To help prevent eye problems:
Control your blood sugar and
blood pressure.
Don’t smoke.
Have a yearly vision exam.
