5 Member Services: 1-888-301-1228/TTY 711 Screening for colon health It is vital to get screened for colon cancer. Symptoms often do not show up until the cancer is advanced. Regular screenings make it more likely to find cancer early when cancer may be easier to treat. Your risk for colorectal cancer gets higher as you get older. It is recommended to start screening at age 45 for people at average risk. It should continue through age 75. Several types of tests can be used. Some tests can be completed at home or the doctor’s office. Talk to your doctor about which option is best for you. No matter which test you choose, the most important thing is to get screened regularly. Call your doctor today to schedule your colon cancer screening.
