Gold Coast Health Plan | Annual Report 2018
Giving back! $29,350: Gold Coast Health Plan sponsored 24 community events and programs for organizations that included the United Way of Ventura County, NAACP Ventura County, Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Ventura County, and Boys & Girls Clubs from throughout the county. $10,955: Gold Coast Health Plan employees donated to the Alzheimer’s Association, American Cancer Society, American Heart Association and Project Understanding’s Tender Life Maternity Home. Dedicated to diversity and inclusion In May, a diverse group of Gold Coast Health Plan employees who serve on a committee to reinforce the Plan’s core values was tasked with leading a new diversity and inclusion initiative. With the Plan’s chief diversity officer, Ted Bagley, at the helm, the group is working to create a work environment that promotes fairness, awareness, trust, employee involvement and inclusive leadership. The group is meeting with members of established diversity and inclusion councils from businesses and organizations in the county to learn about the types of activities they engage in. Ted kicked off a series of lunch-and- learn discussions for employees in July about diversity and inclusion. The first two have focused on multiple generations in the workplace and how the differences can pose leadership issues if not properly managed.
